It’s over! We have a winner! Jamiel nowparvar! I’m not sure why but jamiel sort of flew under the radar this year. Most everyone expected mike munzinrider to finish 1st.  Poor mike. 2005 will be remembered as the year munzi got smoked in the 1st round. He lost rock, paper scissors, and went out in 3 consecutive tricks.  Big upset!

This is the 4th year of the out contest and the vibe gets bigger every year. The big problem this year was the rain. It rained the whole day. Not a hard rain, but the kind that just keeps everything wet. So we adapted and held the contest inside.

The out contest is also our 9th anniversary celebration. What we do is let all our members skate for free and non- members skate for ½ price. As you can imagine it was packed with skateboarders. We had around 300 skaters show up, not including the 64 out competitors and their crews. It was packed down here.

Josh updike: we lost josh 2 years ago, and want to remember him by honoring him every out/ anniversary day. His father came out and spoke about him and we had a traditional moment of silence in respect of josh’s memory.  Josh’s dad gave 3 cases of orange soda away to the winners. Orange soda was josh’s favorite! We know josh’s spirit was with us.
R.i.p josh. A true skateboarder!

Todd brown and chad benson were the official out judges this year, and they were tough. They did not let a thing slide. They spent the day slamming on all the kids. Lets just say they were easily offended by “inappropriate” flat ground tricks. Big ups to the crew from next generation skate shop, in Omaha Nebraska.  It was like entering the lion’s den for these guys, and they smoked many a local legend!

In the end we gave out $1000.00 to the top four. $600 went to jamiel. The funny thing: even though mike muzinrider got blown out in the 1st round he still made some money. Jamiel owed munzi $150.00 and paid him out of his $600.00
See you all next time.
