I finally made it out to southern California, San Diego to be exact. This trip was for work and was well worth the time and trek. Mulla and I flew into town Friday night, checked in and went out to an art party nearby. The party was pretty low key but fun none the less. I got to shake hands and have a photo with Cab; needless to say I was hyped. Mulla decided to splurge and purchased a photo that was up. It was a Grant Britain piece, pretty sick, grant even signed it. A little more schmoozing and it was time to go to the hotel and crash.
Sat was a full day of work. Mulla and I had meetings with different companies all day long. We checked out their new product and discussed business. The highlight was the mini ramp that was there. They also had the ES game of skate but we did not get to watch much. I heard it was pretty good though. It was really fun to skate but we only had a small amount of time for play. From there it was time to eat and go out. We ended up at a party that was too fancy for my taste and soon found ourselves walking the streets of San Diego in search of something more our style. After a slice of pizza it was time for sleep and preparation for another day of the trade show.
Sunday was much easier than Saturday. We had a few meetings and walked around checking out the other companies that were there. Mulla also participated in “Skateboard Feud,” an annual charity event at the show. It was pretty funny. The show ended early so we got some food and went back to the hotel for a nap.
We both ended up sleeping until early Monday morning and missing out on Sunday night festivities, what a nap. At this point the trade show was over but our flight did not leave until later afternoon. Luckily our friend Rodney Jones came to pick us up and take us skating. We ended up at the skatePark under the Washington Street Bridge. It was really gnarly, as anyone who has been there knows. Nothing was easy so it was really fun. If you ever make it out that way I definitely recommend skating Washington Street. After a good session it was on to the airport and home to Minneapolis.
That is all for Now
