2006 Midwest Melee
Just a quick synopsis on the weekend - Minnesota skateboarders RULE – Seriously, the skateboarders from this state are really, really good – period. This state is producing some very, very good riders. We should have called it the ‘Minnesota Melee’ because 99% of the competitors this weekend were from this state. Let me tell you – the level of skating in this contest was simply amazing.
The expert division alone had 52 skaters – all but 2 from Minnesota. The point differential in qualifiers was insanely close, with only point something, something, something separating the scores. If you look closely at the numbers and you’ll see that there was a lot of ties – which meant that they had to use the second run scores to see who placed higher. These were some of the tightest scores I can ever remember seeing in a contest. 79.something got you into finals and there were 8 riders who were less than 2 points away from that – and they did not make it into the finals! Completely Crazy!!
Overall, I just can’t believe how good the skateboarders are from here and I know for a fact that the pros that were here this weekend completely agree with me – MINNESOTA SKATEBOARDERS RULE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Especially this guy! -
