2006 O.U.T. Wars V
This weekend the 3rd Lair celebrated our 10 year anniversary and 5th annual O.U.T. Championship, which by the way was amazing. In addition we had a customer appreciation special which included; free skating for members, 7.00 all day session for regulars, and a huge sale in the shop.
We got the day started nice and early at 10am with the first ever kids O.U.T. Bracket. There were 32 kids signed up, battling for some killer prizes. I was pleasantly surprised by the caliber of skating; these young rippers had their game faces on. When all was said and done a young man by the name of Dan Crittenden won the kid’s bracket. Watch out for this kid, he will be a serious O.U.T. contender in years to come.
The money bracket started at noon on the dot. 64 of the best flat ground skaters in the Midwest came to spar off. There were some epic O.U.T. games and some upsets, but those who truly rip continued to move on. Jammin Jay brought his turntables out to create a soundtrack to the whole experience, mixing a wide variety of music and sound effects. The crowd loved it. Last year’s O.U.T. winner Jamiel Nowparvar was looking for the repeat victory and made it to the final round. He was pitted against Davis Torgerson who has been having a great year as far as contest s go. This guy is really developing a reputation for himself as a smooth and consistent skater. The round was a best two out of 3 but Davis only needed 2 games to take down the defending champ. As the game ended Jay cranked the Star Wars theme which summarized the epic nature of the 2006 O.U.T. Wars
The 3rd Lair would like to say thanks to all who support what we do and extend a special thanks to Roots Skateboards, the premier sponsor of the 2006 O.U.T. Wars.
