3rd Lair meets Lake Owen Day 1 –
Met at 3rd Lair at 8am to pack the truck for Summer Series in Woodbury and our week at Lake Owen. Summer series went off without a hitch and we were in route to camp by 2pm. A quick detour to pick up lunch and a sleeping bag and we were back on the road. The drive was just about 3 hours so no big deal at all. I thought it would be longer. It was rad to pull up and see a lot of familiar faces, locals and other Midwest friends alike. Even our friend BJ is here teaching this week. Mike (head honcho) directed us to the vert ramp where Lynch and Ole, some of OTC’s finest, were finishing up an all day session. Mulla jumped in it for about 20 minutes – just enough time to put down a couple backside airs. We then proceeded to explore the rest of this seriously impressive complex. There is so much to skate here it is unreal. The plan for tomorrow is to hit the vert ramp hard and see what other fun is to be had. Check back for more updates! - (posted by Mrod @ 1:05am)
3rd Lair meets Vert Ramp Lake Owen Day 2 -
We started our day with breakfast and were on the vert ramp by 10:15 for the first session of the day. We skated until lunch and I have to say, it was a blast. Trog is skating this ramp as if he has been riding it for years and Mulla has been ripping. A few of the Trog Army kids that are at camp this week joined us as well. The Jet, Jon Reese, Evan Hoyt and more all got in on the session. Even Jack Olson skated it with us for a while. After lunch, BJ took us out on the boat so he and Trog could do some fishing. It was a lot of fun but a bit chilly and rainy. BJ caught like 6 fish while the Trog came up empty handed. Apparently he did not bring the right kind of fishing pole. We came back to shore and get another session in. I skated the bowl and street course for a little while and we had another 45 minute vert session before dinner. Tonight’s camper activity was an instructor demo and the 3rd Lair team got in the mix, killing it. Tabari, Jack, Julian, and Jon all held it down. It was cool to see Kirian shredding as well as 3rd Lair staff member – Austin Graham. Swamp Trog threw down a sick BS Tail Slide an the bank to steep bank going over the quarterpipe. And BJ did an ice plant to fakie – pretty sure Mulla got photos of both. Tomorrow we get to do it all again so stay tuned! (posted by Mrod @ 12:09am)
