Subject: king of groms
Mark,
We wanted you and your staff to know how much we enjoyed our weekend at your skate park! 3rdLair is the most awesome park we've ever been at. The competition was very well run and organized and I really appreciate you guys making the divisions so fair by bumping people up. The whole atmosphere was so friendly and fun. What nice prizes too... We had trouble trying to put all that great skateboarding stuff in the suitcase! That was just icing on the cake!
We look forward to returning next year and will tell everyone back home in Maryland to get on a plane and be there!!
Thanks again!
Daniel Crowe and family
PS. If you got any action shots of Daniel, I would love it if you could email me some!
Mark,
The King of the Groms contest at 3rd Lair in Minneapolis was a blast -
hundreds of skate-kids with parents in tow. You 3rd Liar guys are
terrific - the best run contest ever. The events started on time and ran
like clockwork. Good music, good people (a bit crowded at times). I can
hardly believe that you had all of the photos up on the website next
day!
Skye placed 6th in beginners mini-ramp. He got bumped up to intermediate
bowl, and didn't make the finals in either bowl or street. SKye won
"Worst Slam" when he ollied off a fun box right into the path of an
oncoming 12-year-old who was about a foot taller than Skye. The bigger
kid knocked Skye out of the air onto the floor. I ran out to see if he
was KO'd - when I started taking off his pads, he pushed my hands away
and said "I have to finish my run"! We met some nice folks from Warp
Skatepark in the Chicago area, and I'm going to arrange a "business"
trip out there next school break.
I signed Skye up for Big Mini contest Rye Air in New Hampshire on APril
1st, but one of our local parks (Shieldsskatepark.com) announced a
mini-ramp contest on April 2nd, so Skye will be there defending his
beginner title.

Hey Steve,Mark and alll....
It's Kim Berdis from Erie,P.A....First and foremost I again wanted to say top notch performance from you and your staff...you guys have an extremely well run park! I commend you for your efforts, as so many parks can not touch your performance this weekend...alas even our very own park, Shebang goes up for sale in April...hey you guys wanna buy a park?!
i also gotta give around of applause to whoever runs your web site...was totally cool how they kept everything updated...i was able to have my family log on and follow the events as they unfolded!!!
In regards to Rodney Johnson, we are stoked he noticed Michael and would like to touch base with him. Would it be possible to point us in the rite direction...I looked him up un line but could find no way to contact him.
I was also wondering if you can give me the name of your local paper. I'd like to write the editor and let them know we had a great time in your town and what a great host 3rd lair was!
Much thanks in advance for your help!!!
...Kim....

Mark,
First of all, I would like to say Thank You to you and all of the workers at 3rd lair. My son had a great time.
Also, if it would be possible to get a copy of the "bowl picture" you took of Joey, that would be wonderful.
Last, in all the excitement of the awards ceremony, Joey left his black Nike coat at the park. As I know, it would be expensive to mail to us, so please make sure that it goes to someone that can really use a nice warm coat.
Thanks for all you've done. We would love to come visit your park again!!
Thanks again,
Kim Petrucci
Great event, great photos. Chelsea had a ton of fun competing against the
boys!
Thanks,
Eric Olson (Chelsea's Dad)
Mark..
Awesome photos! Thanks for including Zack in the shots! He was soooo
excited. You guys do such a great job with the contest. Most who put on a
contest, blow off the "post" contest stuff. The time you put into it is
definately appreciated! Thanks for spreading the good "kharma" and as
always, an excellent job done!
Take care and see you soon!
Ron & Zack
PS: If you haven't deleted the pics yet, Zack was wondering if you could
email the mini-room "wall plant". Just doing that trick, made the little
guys weekend.
Hello Mark, just want to thank you guys for having us up there for the
contest, once again a well run event, Props to you Steve and the whole 3rd
lair staff, we will see you guys next year..
Mark Ortiz
Thanks for all your hard work this weekend.
All of the kids had a great time and the entire staff went out of their way making all of the kids feel special and “cool” regardless of their ability or level of stage fright J

Mark, Steve, and the entire staff,
I just wanted to send a quick note your way to say thank you for the weekend!!! When I bought the dying warp skatepark in 2003 it was a complete fuck story over here. The old owner was all about $$$$$$$$. NOT skaters or skateboarding! I have had to fight to reestablish what WARP stand for and is about. And the skaters who represented our park this weekend did just that. Its not about Rob Mutert, its about skating. I have seen how you all look at skateboarding and how you run your business. I am very impressed with your operation. You are a success because you are doing what you love. Just as I have had the rare chance in life to do what I love. SKATEBOARD!!!!! My Dad always told me do what you love and success will follow. I only hope that I can be as successful at this as you all are. Mad props to your staff, some of them I have met in the past and respect how hard they work for you. I live by a few simple rules in life, and the main one is, serve something greater than your own ego or you will be a 1 man army. You all have a nice army up their. The Midwest Brigade is proud of the skating this weekend and I am way proud of the skaters who did it. . Our crew poured their hearts into this contest and skated very well. I just wanted you all to know that after Chazz won he came over to me and presented me with the trophy. (as he did last year) He said THIS ONE IS FOR YOU ROB!! (that little big man almost brought me to tears ) Him saying that I knew he was saying it was for the WARP!!! That trophy will be displayed with great pride in our park.
Thank you for doing it for the GROMS!!!! The Future!!!
Peace
Rob Mutert
