A weekend at Melvin's on the lake.

We loaded up the demo course and away we went.
This time our destination was Spicer. We arrived Friday afternoon and
had things set up and were skating by 3:00

We were greeted by a very cool group of local skaters. These guys
welcomed us and we felt the vibe. Our crew: Cody Ashley, Kim and
Chuck Davis, Neal Snipe, Dan Narloch, John Roddy, Jammin Jay,
Thatch Attack, B.J Morill, Brian Godfrey, Mike Guy, Mulla, and Pushy.
We were running 14 deep!

Friday we held a contest for the locals. We had 2 divisions, beginner and
expert. The beginners were rad only 3 kids, but they were not afraid. This
little fella Jonathan was only 4 and he has the fire already. The expert
contest was fun. Great skating. Crazy varity of tricks. It seems like that
crew is developing their own unique style.

Mulla then had an idea. He gave a free deck out to
the first kid to swim about 100 yards to the diving dock. Sooo funny.
About 100 kids lined up but only about 10 got wet. That night we all ate
great at Melvin's. When in Spicer, you must feed at Melvin's.

Sunday we hung out all day and the park was open to the public for free
skate. The locals came back and took the crew to a local mini ramp.
Thanks guys. We had our first demo Saturday at 1:00 and little Cody was
stoked to bomb drop off the top of the cab of our 28 foot truck. He went
for it. The problem was he caught his front foot on the rear view mirror of
the truck and went down HARD!

He slammed straight to his side. About an 8 foot bail. All the folks who
left the comfort of their cabins were horrified to see this 10 year old kid
go down so hard. ALL WAS SILENT. Except for the groans of Cody. His
mom and dad took him to the hospital in Wilmer I think. They came back
a couple hours later. Cody was fine. He was back skating the 3rd Lair
the next day.

To sum it up. Cool locals, great location on the lake, grub was superb. I
think I speak for everyone when I say I hope we get a chance to invade
Spicer again.

Thanks Dave at Melvins, The Legion pull tab booth, Dairy Queen, and all
the locals in Spicer.

Stay tuned for more summer skateboarding fun with the 3rd Lair demo
squad.

We just got back from Forest Lake.
We took our demo ramps up there
and did 3 demos.

The crew: Jeff Amendola,
Cody Davis, Jamie Nowparvar, Mike
Guy, and Eddie Korkendofer. It was the
first 3rd Lair demos for Jeff, and
Eddie.

They skated so good. Eddie is so
smooth, and killed the box, Jeff skated
hard and went big.

Cody was stoked because he was allowed to
take a day of school to demo with the big boys.
If you don't know Cody, he is only 10.
All the middle school girls were way
into Cody.

Jamiel and Guy are old 3rd Lair veterans and
they of course were crowd favorites.

Forest Lake students were
loud and pumped the demo in a
positive way. After each demo our team was
mobbed by the students.

Our team did a great job hanging with the kids.
They must have signed 1000 autographs.
All in all it was a great demo. We look
forward to coming back next year.

A WEEKEND IN THE LIFE OF THE 3RD
LAIR DEMO TEAM.

We just returned from our first big demo of the
summer season. We loaded a 28 foot trailer
full of ramps and drove 3 1/2 hours north to
Park Rapids.

The crew: B.J. Morrill, Chris Thatcher, Jamiel
Nowparvar, Brian Godfrey, Cody, Ashley, Kim,
and Chuck Davis, Jammin Jay, Neal Shipe,
Dan Narloch, and Tom Roar.

We arrived Friday night and went straight to the
Pizza Ranch. The Ranch was rad. Pizza, bowling,
and a lounge. The grom team was freaking out.
They pretty much took over the place. After food
We had a bubble hockey
tournament. I kicked everybody, and went
un-defeated. We tucked the groms into their
hotel rooms and went across the street to the
Eagle Lounge.

When we walked in we were greeted by the
80's cover band, Cold Front. I think these
guys know every song ever written. I bought
some pull Tabs and won $100.00. So
needless to say, I bought the ribs. Last thing
about the Eagle Lounge. They held a dance
contest to AC/DC. Thatcher entered
and won. I think the locals were a bit upset to
get beat out by a city
slicker.

The Demo: We set up the park, and the
skaters seemed treaty stoked. They
have no skatepark in town. Open skate started
at 11:00 am.

There were about 100 locals that showed up.
I think they were freaked out. Most of them have
never seen a skatepark. Our crew killed it. Our
big demo was at 1:00. We started with the groms,
and finished with our team.

Highlights:
Cody, kickflip frontboard wedge 1/4 to wedge.
Tom, Airwalk transfer over the spin.
Dan, crooked backlip on the flat bar.

The older guys flow so good on that course that the
locals did not know what to think.

Jammin Jay and Thatcher broke out lines that
only included tricks that were from before 1990.
Jay put on a street plant clinic.

BJ skated smooth and fast. our crew was simply ripping.
The Park Rapids people were very supportive, Little
Cody even had them chanting his name over and over.
Jammin Jay was autographing body parts.
Jay for sure had his fan club.

Following the demo we opened the park to the locals. I
think it was real good for the organizers to have so much time for the park to be open to the public. All in all it was a great time!

Thanks to Boy Scouts for making such a good healthy
lunch for us.
Thanks to the crew at the Pizza Ranch.
Thanks to the Eagle Lounge, and Cold Front.
Thanks to M-Rod and Jake for helping Jay and me
unload the truck Sat. Night.
Thanks, big time, to Mari-Jo Lohmeier and her family.

To all the skaters in Park Rapids. Keep on your com
leaders. I think
their ready to build you a park.

LAST THING: WELCOME BACK FROM IRAQ FREIGHT
TRAIN!

Steve

I want to give a little attention to some of the kids. These kids aren't old enough to remember Dave
LeRoux, Justn Lynch, and all the rest of the legends of the Mpls skate scene. Look out Mpls
there's another crew and they're just a bunch of elementary students. They skateboard together,
push each other, and they are the 3rd Lair Grom team. For those of us that are around these kid
skateboarders everyday, it's rad to see their progression. At TOP SHOP 2004 Mark and I entered
them on Friday. The contest was on Saturday, and they ended up taking 3rd place out of 22
teams.
I recently sat down with 3 of the Grom team riders for an intense interview.

Tom Rohrer: Going on tour with a lot of pros. someday.

The last few weeks have been preaty cool.
Elijah Collard, Jamiel Nowparvar and I have been
going to local schools to hang out with the local
rippers. We were out in Bloomington at Hillcrest
Elementary for some sort of activity days. We
had about 30 ultra beginners who were racing
around cones outside. Elijah set up a course for
the kids to learn how to push. Super cool kids,
thanks for having us.
We then went out to Chaska and meet with Mrs.
Strandberg. We had another 30 or so kids.
There are some sick skaters out in Chaska. Mrs.
Stranberg even let one of her student zippers
ollie her. Thanks for having us Chaska Middle
School.
Sometimes I feel that since skateboarding has
gotten so huge that every kid these days has a
board. The situation though is so many of the
boards out there are from toy stores and the
young skater doesn't get a chance to really
experience skateboarding. These school
programs are so fun for us because we see
kids litteraly, riding for the first time. It's rare
these days to see skateboarding on such a
pure level. No politics, just skateboarding. Not
for the camera, or to get a sponsor, just to have
fun. I hope the kids that spent some time with us
had a good time and continue to enjoy
skateboarding. Remember the first time you rode
a skateboard? Tell me your story and have a
chance to WIN A FREE SESSION. If you would
like us to come to your school drop me a line.

It's been a while since I last wrote. Big props
to our friend Wes "Gunner" Hickman, winner
of the the "out" contest. I would love to see
some of the footage people made of the
contest. If you have any let me know? It was
also our 7th anniversary party, and we are
soon to be entering our 10th month at our new
location. It has been a crazy ride. Goodtimes
and bad. I really would like to say thanks to all
the skaters out there that have supported the
3rd Lair through our 7 year journey. The
people that I have met through this park have
given me so many great memories. Thanks to
all of you. Many more to come! Remember
when the 3rd Lair was the only skatepark in
frickin Minnesota. Remember the Roots crew
digital photo, I wish I still had that. Remember
NY Mike's, 50/50 contest while slamming
whiskey. NY your knees arn't that bad, get
down here and skate! Remember late night
vert sessions with all the "Big Boys" on hand.
Remember all the pro demos, and seeing the
locals step it up. Remember breaking the
display glass at 3am, and getting it fixed
before Mark showed up for work the next
morning. Damn that night sucked. Whatever, I
hope to see you soon. RIP Josh Updike.

I just got done digging through some old
skateboard tapes and found a gem! It is last
years "OUT" Championship final 4 tape. Fun
stuff. Benson vs Jackson is a classic 2 out of
3 battle. O.U. to O.U. in all three games. This is
rare, bootleg, footage, from the old skatepark.
If anyone wants to view it I'll be playing it at
the skatepark. O, it's a great scouting tool for
those who want the edge in 2003. There
won't be a repeat in 2003, on the count of
Chad "OUT CHAMP 2002" Benson will be in
Vancouver skating in a different kind of
contest. Check news and events for details.

For this installment of my corner I must
announce the winner of a free
session. SARAH REILEIN, you and a
friend have a free session waiting for
you at the 3rd Lair,
CONGRATULATIONS!
The winning memory, I quote,
"Everytime I've ever been to the

redefine my definition of what a skater
is and how much they can achieve."

MARK AND I ARE LOOKING FOR NEW
BOARD GRAPHICS. I KNOW THERE
ARE SOME ARTISTS OUT THERE.
E-MAIL YOUR GRAPHICS TO
steve@3rdlair.com, or mail them to 3rd

The quote of the day reminds me of
watching my favorite skaters. "Making
the simple complicated is
commonplace; making the complicated
simple, awsemomly simple, that's
creative." Charles Mingus.

Until next time -

Well this is the first installment of my
corner. I was hanging out at my
favorite rib restaurant Rudolph's the
other night with some old friends. We
had just viewed the documentary
about the rise and fall of Gator.
Anyway we started talking about the
most memorable moments in
skateboarding. There are so many!
Skateboarding has a crazy past.
My top 5 list is sort of thrown together
with local memories included.
1. Watching Lance Mountain do 540's
at the Osseo vert ramp in 1986.
2. Seeing skaters like Steve Nesser,
Emeric Pratt, Clint Peterson, Chad
Benson, Seth McCullum, progress into
the skaters they are.
3. Skating the Vert ramp at the Aqua
Jams.
4. Picking Mulla up when he was 12 to
go skate the Ramp City vert ramp, and
witnessing the vert skating of Erik
"Woody " Froland.
5. Watching Rick McCrank skate when
he was a Plan B am at the old 3rd Lair.
Ask me in 10 minutes and my list would
change, but for now, these were
some memorable memories.

Send me your top 5.
(steve@3rdlair.com)

I'll pick somebody's list, and they will
get a free session for themselves and
a friend.
Quote of the day: "Chips don't melt!"
Mark Muller

It has been a while, I know. But here we go.
I have been cruzing around with the 3rd Lair demo team all summer.
Recently we went to Sioux Falls S.D. We did two demos at 2 very different
parks.
The 1st park was built by a local carpenter and it was quit unique. The
temp. was
hovering around 100 and we all felt the heat. Thatcher almost passed out. I
think Amendola threw up.
The next day our demo was at a trueride park. It was a good park for a
demo.
There were over 300 kids there. I could not believe the turn out. SO CRAZY.
Our team consisted of Jeff Amendola, Mike Guy, Chris Thatcher, and Jamiel
Nowparvar.
These guys were bum rushed after the demo. All I could do was laugh as they
fought for their
survival. The team was way cool and stuck around to sign an autograph for
each child.
HIGHLIGHT: We all sat down for breakfast in our hotel lobby and Thatch
grabbed the newspaper.
He then threw it down laughing. We looked and he had a front page picture.
He was doing a pivot to fakie.
The caption read something like this. Chris Thatcher from Minneapolis
changes directions on the top of a
slope during the 3rd Lair skateboard demo. We all loved the wording. Big up
to the writer. THANKS paper
people.

We drove back to Minneapolis, slept, got up and went to do demos at
Lumberjack days in Stillwater.
Mulla came with to help set up the demo park, and hang out. He had to bail
early cuz the DEAD were
playing at Alpine Valley, and he had tickets. Anyway the crew was big. Mike
Guy, Jammin Jay, Thatch,
The Davis family, Ryan Yost, and a few others that joined in for the fun.
Lumberjack days is cool.
Log rolling and skateboarding!
The music was Blues Traveler, and Leonard Skynard. 65,000 people. OUT OF
HAND MADNESS.
Ryan Yost, and Jammin Jay, killed the course. HIGHLIGHT: I have bought pull
tabs at 2 over night skate trips.
Only $10 per time. I won a $100 both times. Anyway, it happened again, I won
another $100. I have only
played 3 times in a couple years and won a $100 each time. Up $300, cannot
complain. Needless to say
I bought the RIBS!

Stay Tuned cuz the Dakota Co. Fair is the next trip we will be there
Aug.10 - 14th.
Then its back to the Great Minnesota get together. THE STATE FAIR! Aug.26 -
Sept.6th
I'll write about that later.

If you read this, WOW! Lots of Babble, huh!
Now go SKATE!

Click here for more pics of Melvins on the Lake!
The Dakota County Fair was a first for us. We worked with the Dakota 4H
dreamcatchers. They were a cool group of kids.
We set up our demo course in an area of the fair that I think in the past
was part of the old city. The old city was all historical buildings that
represented life in the late 1800's. The fair had 2 options for the area we
were in. The first was a croquet course and the second a skateboard area. We
are happy they chose the second. The crew. Thatch Attack, BJ Morrill, Jamiel
Nowparvar, Mike Guy, Andrew Rick, Tony Sorenson, Eddie Korkendorffer, Dan
Berkstien, Ryan Yost, Mark Muller, Carrie Muller, The Davis crew and myself.
Big crew! Anyway I stayed in a trailer for 5 nights in the carney zone along
with the crew. The demos were preaty cool, our guys skated well. I know
living in a trailer with out a shower for a week was tough.
SOME HIGHLIGHTS: Thatch, BJ, and I bought some cowboy hats and went to the
rib tent, we fit right in. Thatch won a line dance contest one night. I had
no idea Thatch knew how to do that stuff. One evening Mulla came down and we
all hung out at the rib tent and played a card game that had us all full of
ribs. Mulla was so full he was seen at the barn dance air guitaring to HIT
ME WITH YOUR BEST SHOT. SO FUNNY. Cody, and Ashley Davis spent the week
going on this crazy bungee type ride. They dropped from about 750 feet and
swung out over the crowd missing the ground be inches. They then peaked out
100 feet above the trees, and swung back and forth until the laws of nature
brought them back to earth. I think Kim Davis even took a ride on it. We
heard her screams from the next County over. The fair environment is a great
time. We all immersed ourselves in the vibe. Jamiel won a cow milking
contest, and BJ spent a whole bunch of time judging sheep.

O ya, the skateboarding was great. There were about 150 locals that made
their way to the park and they were all great kids. I am so amazed at how
many kids in Dakota County skate. They have a very healthy seen. I just hope
the locals had as much fun as we did.

Thanks to all, and we hope to be there next year!
Stay tuned for updates from the great Minnesota get together, the STATE
FAIR.

Congrats to Brian Perry on your upcoming wedding! I wish I was able to
attend. I'll be at the Fair.

BIG NEWS:
I have been working with Eric Johnson, on a television show called SCENE
TV. We have interviewed Flogging Molly, Dropkick Murphy's, Mike V and the
Rats, and many other bands. We also have exclusive interviews with Mike
Vallely, Matt Hensley, Alex Chalmers, Peter Smolik, Brian Schaffer, and many
other skateboarders. We hope to have put together a show that represents
skateboarding and music in way that not many programs are willing to do.
RAW, AND FOR REAL.
SCENE TV was picked up by channel 45. THE PREMIER IS SUNDAY SEPT. 12th AT
11:00. I hope you all enjoy it.
Thanks, STEVE

'04 Mn. State Fair

Year number 4 is in the history books! What a crazy year it was. I would
like to say thanks to all those who helped us pull this off.
Carrie and Mark, M Rod, Katlin, Thatcher, BJ, Jamiel, Munzi, Benson, Jason
Barr, Amendola, M Guy, Cody, Max, Tom Roar, Ryan Yost, Kirian Stone, Neal
Shipe, Dan Narloch, Timmy G, Tony Sorenson, A Rick, Red, J Lee, Brennen,
Tony Mortenson, Josh N, Landon, Chris, Dustin, Darren, Kyle, The Dust, Big
Ben, Nick, Seth, BJ the Biker, little Reed, Minni Mark, the rest of the bike
crew, Woody, Nate, Jammie, Zac, Elijah, T Torp, Greg C,  Cookie, all the
parents of the 15 and under team. Man, that's a big crew, WHOODI.

Each day sort of runs into each other. We did 6 demos a day for 12 days. The
crowds were big. I would say we had well over 1500 people average per show.
The booth this year was pretty cool, and we were prepared for the fair
buying frenzy. We managed pretty well however everyone had a moment during
the fair were they "hit the wall".

Big ups to The rib ladies at the pizza/pasta bar. Every night after our last
demo we had to get some ribs from our favorite spot. The rib servers were on
point. Like clockwork we were there at 7:00 sharp every night of the fair.
Big ups to freight Train for skating in a demo 1 hour after getting off a
plane. Then Monday he went back to Colorado to continue training to go back
to Iraq. This Year being a election year and all was filled with political
pins, shirts, hats, blaa, blaa, blaa. I could go on forever about the fair.

So many crazy memories from. Now that it is over I can look back on some
great shows. I think every show went well. For Real.
I hope you enjoy the photos they tell the best story.

I want to say thanks to all my old pals, and family that made their way up
to the hill to say hi.

Hey folks! Sorry I have been so lame about writing. I must admit, I have been spending most of my free time getting to know a certain someone. Anyway, We are done with our summer demo season. This past summer was filled with so many great times. I think we did over 60 demos this past season. We started in June and ended in late October. I must say thanks to all the skaters who I dragged out of bed at 5:30 am and hauled all over the Midwest.  We are already setting up summer 2005 demos. If you would like to have us
come to your town give us a call. (763) 797-7401.

I’m pretty stoked about being able to spend some time around the 3rd Lair this winter. We have been working hard in the shop getting ready for the holiday season. Make sure you get a chance to swing by and do some gift shopping. I am getting some cool gear in. All the companies have some cool holiday specials so I’ll make sure to have all their new stuff in here.

I wanted to offer you guys a chance to win a free deck.
I have a Birdhouse autographed STEVE NESSER deck for the winner.

OUR LITTLE TRIP TO tAMPA

I recently returned from Tampa. Great time I'll try to spin the web.
We got to the airport at around 3:30. Mark Muller, Munzi, Mrod, and I all shared an X-large
chocolate malt. Then we were really excited to get to our Hotel room. Mrod put on his new swim trunks
and led the way to the new pool. We all swam, and swam, and swam! It was great. We then went to the
Skatepark of Tampa to skateboard, and watch skateboarding. It was just great to visit with our friends
there. The practice for the contest was getting pretty fierce, and some kids even got snaked. At this time
we were ready for our first night in Tampa. We went to eat pasta with The Davis Family, The Roar Family, and this young skateboarding superstar, Ryan "The Lighting bolt" Yost. After dinner time we went back to our hotel room and got into a really fun game of Trivial Pursuit. That game is SOOOO HARD. It was Munzi and Mrod vs. Me and Mulla. We won cuz we got a question about the Flintstones to win. We all went to bed early, but not until after we ate some microwave popcorn, and feasted on 3 or 4 racks of ribs.

CONTEST DAY ONE: We got up around 7:30 to go jogging around Ybor city, it was wonderful. It was so funny cuz Mrod was already up jogging and we had to catch up to him. We then ate a breakfast sandwich at this great little Cuban
restaurant. OK, after breakfast we made our way back to the Skatepark.

FOR REAL: Great time. I think about 110 skateboarders showed their stuff for the judges. There were also hundreds of cheering skateboarders rooting on their favorites. A young fella by the name of Tom Roar stepped on to the course for his run and killed it. Then all the sudden another young gun named Ryan Yost stepped out and you know what, that's right, he killed it. The problem for Mrod, Munzi, Mulla, and myself is we missed their runs because of our morning jog. SORRY.
As luck would have it though. Tom's mom recorded their runs. Must say, the digital world saved the day.

Coming soon: Keep an eye on Tom and Ryan's spot on our web page to see thier runs. (Look under DEMO TEAM button)

Well then, That evening brought out the Vertical skateboarders for the Tampa Vert contest. I must say I love vert, and the young guys, and girl, were ripping! It's just great to see. I hope some day we can get another vert ramp. (hint)
That evening we went to a movie, and discussed the SPOTS art show that we went to the evening previous. Munzi was so enlightened by the art experience that he fainted,, and did not come around until the morning jog.
Saturday: The day that Cody and Jason skated, and more than 100 others......STAY TUNED.......

I am so stoked right now. The weather is around 65. The outdoor course is open. Top Shop is next weekend. I think it is safe to say we made it through another winter.
O.K. this just in: I made the board for O.U.T. This is our 4th O.U.T. contest. I really enjoy this contest. It kinda marks the beginning of summer for me. We used to do it during the Cinco De Mayo celebration at the old location on Lake Street. Now it’s become a spring tradition of it’s own. We only have 64 spots for the contest; so don’t wait until the last minute to sign up.
New for this year: We are going to add up to 3 contest official O.U.T. judges to help me make the calls. I know last year there was some controversy regarding how fast some of the competitors were rolling. This year we will have a Golden Valley police officer there with a new 2005 state of the art “Ketchum speed gun, gold model 2Z0524b” The latest in speed gun technology.  So don’t worry, this year you’ll all be clocked. All in fun my friends. Just joking, there won’t be a police officer at O.U.T with a Ketchum gold model 2Z0524b. Chad Benson will be on hand as 1 of my official out judges though. Remember, he won the 1st O.U.T. contest back in 2002.
3RD LAIR O.U.T. RULES OF ENGAGEMENT
2 COMPETITORS WILL PLAY PAPER, ROCK, SCISSORS; THE WINNER WILL BE THE 1ST TO TRY A TRICK. ONCE THE BOARD LEAVES THE GROUND IT MUST LAND ON ALL 4 WHEELS. NO RAIL LANDINGS, MANUAL LANDINGS, CASPERS, OR 50-50S.
NO HANDS ON THE GROUND, BEFORE OR AFTER A TRICK. NO STEP OFF TRICKS, (I.E. BONELESSES, OR NO COMPLYS)
ON OFFENCE (WHEN IT’S YOUR TRICK) THE TRICK MUST BE LANDED COMPLETELY CLEAN, AND AT A DECENT RATE OF SPEED (CREEPERS WILL BE CALLED OUT).
ON DEFENSE (WHEN IT’S THE OTHER GUY’S TRICK) THERE IS A BIT OF LEEWAY FOR THE LANDING. THIS WILL BE UP TO THE SKATERS, AND THE JUDGES, BUT IT IS TRULY OBJECTIVE: THUMBS UP OR THUMBS DOWN
EITHER THE TRICK WAS LANDED OR NOT.
IF YOU MISS THE OTHER GUYS TRICK, YOU GET A LETTER. IF THE OTHER GUY MISSES HIS FIRST TRICK, (WHEN ON OFFENCE) OFFENSIVE POSITION CHANGES AND IT IS YOUR TRICK. THE FIRST SKATER TO ACCRUE THE LETTERS O.U.T IS ELIMINATED, AND THE WINNER GOES ON TO THE NEXT ROUND.

Sometimes something hits you so hard it really snaps you back into reality.  Recently I have been spending way too much energy on useless matters. There are haters everywhere.
A friend of mine and a friend to many skateboarders was shot while serving in the US Army in Iraq. Sergeant Jeremy (Fr8 Train) Wolfsteller of the 3rd Armored Calvary was shot, and severely wounded early Sat. morning June 25th. I was informed as we set up for a skateboard demo that we were doing in Farmington Mn. I went numb when the reality of the situation sunk in. I wanted to help, but what the F&*K was I to do? I just started praying that my friend would pull through.
Currently Fr8 Train is in a hospital in Wash. D.C. Recovery from his wounds will take a long time. The Fr8 has a long hard road ahead of him. I truly think that it is time for us all here in the Mpls. scene to focus on the big picture, relax, and respect our community. I ask everyone to spread some positive. Send some good energy to our friend Fr8 Train.
No one is an island, no one stands alone.
Drop the fr8 a line.
fr8train20032000@yahoo.com
I wanted to give everyone an update on our bro Jeremy Wolfsteller. The bullet entered under the right hip, towards the back of it, went diagonal upwards and broke part of his pelvis, fractured his Lombard and the bones along the spine, damaged the nerves in that area and continued up to puncture a lung. The bullet is now under his shoulder blade. The Doctors are stunned at the way the bullet moved thru his body.
I spoke with the Train a few times now that he has been in a Washington D.C. Military hospital. He seems to be going through some of the toughest times imaginable. He is making progress. He has a long road to recovery and I know he is ready for the hard fight. He wants everybody to know he is O.K.
He said that Tony Hawk stopped by the hospital to visit the troops, and when he found out the Fr8 Train was a skater he went straight to the Fr8’s room to pay him a visit. Ryan R. was able to go out to visit, and many other friends and of course family have made the trip to give the Fr8 support. I’m planning on visiting in Mid Sept. I would love to go sooner but we are readying ourselves for the Dakota Co. Fair, and the State Fair of Mn. This will be our 5th year at the State Fair and we will miss having the Train out there ripping it up with us. He is receiving all the e-mails.
Take a second and drop the fr8 a line.
Hey Train, I’ll keep sending you good vibes
and I know you’re in many good people’s prayers.
Drop the train a note.
His Mom is collecting his e-mails daily.

O.K.  Everyone. I spoke to Fr8 Train’s mom the other day and she brought to my attention that I have been darn lazy and need to update my corner.

She is right it’s been way too long.

Anyway an update. Fr8 is progressing well; he is out of the hospital and is now an outpatient. He’s still in Wash. D.C. It is still a long road to recovery. Fr8 train is a tuff dude, mentally, and physically. He told me he has received 100’s of e-mails, and he loves hearing from everyone. Soon though, we can all hang out in person!

Here is the BIG NEWS:
Sergeant Jeremy Wolfsteller was given a chance by the army to come home for the holidays. His friends and family are planning a frickin GIANT welcome home PARTY!
Everyone is welcome, and encouraged to be there.

Jeremy is a true skateboarder, and I bet it would stoke him out if EVERYONE SHOWED UP!

Where and when:
Dec. 10th 1-5 at the VFW in Hopkins, 100 Shady Oak Road (Everyone, including 21 and under, be there!)
Continuing at 6:00 at the Hopkins Tavern on Main, 819 Mainstreet Hopkins.
Jammin Jay, Pushy, and brigadier Woodrow will be spinning vinyl all evening long.

The Skateboard Mag. Presents - Top Shop 06,
MY TAKE ON THIS WEEKENDS PARTY!
Top Shop was an idea that was put into action 4 years ago. We all thought
it would be fun to get all the shop teams in the area together for a weekend
of skateboarding and fun. I never imagined that 4 years later teams would
be  traveling from around the country to hang out, skate and party. 40 teams
was the total number of shops this year! Up from 23 in 2005. I was stoked to
get a chance to meet all the true skateboarders that made their way here
this year. For me the best expirence at Top Shop is making friends, seeing
old friends all in the name of skateboarding.
This year we introduced the Top Shop Trade Show. We thought that with 40
teams competing and numorus other shops hanging out, it would be a great
chance for our sponsors to set up camp and do their thing. Over 20 companies
made the long journey to MPLS. I have never seen so many companies
representing ever in the Midwest! It was completely genuine. I hope all the
companies had as much fun as I did, and of course, I hope, got some "work"
done. I know that the locals were freaking out on all the gear they went
home with. I think Rob Washburn gave out 150 sets of Bones wheels, and Matt
from DNA gave out 200 limited edition Top Shop shirts. Creature premiered
their new video saturday night, and about 1000 people showed up for that
party! I want to say THANKS to all the industry. It meant
so much to so many having you all spend the weekend here. Everyone who
attended knows that the skateboarding was fierce, the parties were great. I
could go on forever. Thanks to everyone for all you did and all your
support. I want to say that all the shop owners that spent their time and
money to get their teams out here deserve big props.
KEEP SKATEBOARDING IN THE HANDS OF THE SKATEBOARDERS!
Skaters rule! See you all next year!
JAH LIVE!
